Williams Qualifies for NJCAA Indoor Nationals with Personal Best in 60m Hurdles

Newark, NJ - Essex County College sophomore Ma'Avian Williams has qualified for the 2026 NJCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Championships, following a standout performance at Wagner College's Shootout Invitational on Friday, December 12, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Williams led the Wolverines by posting a national qualifying mark in the women's 60-meter hurdles, recording a personal best of 8.89 to place 11th out of 51 competitors. She also finished 13th out of 96 in the women's 60 meters with a time of 7.87.

With this performance, Williams is currently tied for third nationally in the 60-meter hurdles, alongside her teammate Kadina Deeble. The NJCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Championships will be hosted by Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, from March 6–7.

Williams' achievement highlights a strong start to the indoor season for the Essex Wolverines, as the program continues to make its mark at the national level.
