Taina Gervais – From Essex County College to NCAA Division II Star

Newark, NJ | Senior forward and former Essex County College women's soccer standout Taina Gervais continues to add to her impressive collegiate resume, earning a spot on the Division II CCA All-Region Team. The recognition caps another stellar season for the Caldwell University star, who has firmly established herself as one of the premier players in the CACC and the East Region.

Gervais, a First Team All-CACC selection in both 2024 and 2025, finished the 2025 regular season ranked among the conference's elite. She tallied 11 goals and 9 assists for 31 pointsthe third-highest total in the league. In postseason play, she delivered once again—scoring the first two goals in Caldwell's 3–0 victory over Chestnut Hill in the CACC Tournament Semifinals.

Her dominance is nothing new. In 2024, Gervais was named the CACC Player of the Year and a D2 CCA First Team All-Region selection. Over her two seasons at Caldwell, she amassed 24 career goals, 14 assists, and 62 total points—numbers that rank tied for seventh in program history in all three categories, despite playing only two years for the Cougars.

Gervais's excellence extends beyond conference play, as the Division II Conference Commissioners Association once again recognized her abilities with an All-East Region First Team selection—affirming her status as one of the top forwards in the entire region.

Success Rooted in Her Time at Essex County College

Before her rise at the Division II level, Gervais began her collegiate journey at Essex County College, where she played for the Wolverines during the 2022–2023 and 2023–2024 seasons. She totaled 17 goals in her two years at ECC and earned multiple major honors, including:

  • NJCAA Region Player of the Year (2023, 2024)
  • Garden State Athletic Conference and Region 19 All-Academic Team (2023,2024)
  • ECC Female Athlete of the Year (2023–2024)

Her breakout performance at the junior college level helped pave her way to Caldwell, where she continued her upward trajectory.

A Model Pathway for Student-Athletes

Gervais's transition from Essex County College to Caldwell University—and her rapid rise to regional and conference stardom—showcases the powerful role of community college athletics as a launching pad for student-athletes aspiring to compete at higher levels. Her continued excellence serves as an inspiration to current and future Wolverines pursuing similar dreams.

A big congratulations to Taina Gervais on another successful soccer season!
