Newark, NJ | The Wolverines found themselves in a tough battle against Mercer CCC Wednesday afternoon earning a point in Region XIX standings.
Mercer CCC scored 2 goals early on but that didn't discourage the Wolverines as they continued to shoe grit and fought hard. Ilana Lashley was able to pull one back right before the half ended. Lashley found herself with the ball and a wide open net. She ran onto the ball from a freekick Brihana Staple.
Within two minutes of the second half Xiomara Rivera bended the ball around the defender finding the back of the net, bring the game level with 43 minutes remaining in the game. 5 minutes later, Rivera secured her brace and gave the Wolverines a 3-2 lead. In the 60th minute, Mercer was able to equalize making it level. Both programs fought hard within the last 30 minutes looking for one more goal. Sadly, no one was able to capitalize, keeping the game tied and securing 1 point in the Region XIX standings.
The women return to action Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Maryland to face CCBC Essex.
